Price Adjustment Details

The ⁣Oil and Gas⁢ Regulatory Authority‌ (Ogra) announced ‌a 3.7 percent increase in the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) on ⁤Monday, December 2nd,⁤ 2025. This increase translates to a⁢ rise of Rs87.21 for an 11.8-kg domestic cylinder, bringing the price to Rs2,378.89. The⁤ new prices‌ will remain in effect until December 31st, 2025.

ogra set the maximum retail price at Rs209 per kilogram for December, up from‌ Rs201.6‍ per kilogram in november – an increase of Rs7.4 per kilogram.

Month Price per kg‍ (Rs) Price per 11.8kg Cylinder (Rs)
November 2025 201.6 2,378.89
December 2025 209 2,466.10

Factors Influencing the Price Hike

According to Ogra, the LPG⁤ producer price is directly linked to two key ‌factors: the Saudi Aramco-CP (Contract Price) and the US dollar exchange rate. This linkage⁤ is established under ⁤the legal and regulatory framework set by the federal government.

In November ⁣2025, the Saudi Aramco-CP price increased⁢ by 4.93% compared to the previous month. Though, this increase was partially offset by a 0.15% decrease in⁣ the average US dollar exchange rate. ⁤The net effect of these changes resulted in a 3.66% increase in the LPG consumer price, equivalent to Rs87.21 per 11.8kg cylinder. The per kg increase ⁤amounted to Rs7.39.

this price increase reflects the volatility in global energy markets and the impact of currency fluctuations on‍ import costs. Pakistan relies heavily on imported LPG, making it ⁢susceptible to international price swings. The Ogra’s formula, while intended to provide ⁣transparency, ultimately passes these ⁤costs‌ onto consumers. Continued monitoring of⁤ both the Saudi Aramco-CP and the PKR/USD exchange rate ‍will be crucial for ‍predicting future LPG price trends. The reliance on imported LPG also ‍highlights the need for Pakistan to diversify its energy sources and potentially invest in domestic LPG production ⁤to mitigate price shocks.
