No. 21 LSU softball secured a series victory over No. 12 Arizona with a 3-1 win on April 11, 2026, at Tiger Park in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The victory marked the Tigers’ second Top 25 series win of the season and improved their overall record to 28-13.
The game served as the 14th annual Strikeout Ovarian Cancer Game, also known as the Teal Game. This event is part of a broader effort across the Southeastern Conference, where all 15 teams wore teal on April 11 to honor the legacy of former Mississippi State softball player Alex Wilcox, who passed away from ovarian cancer in 2018.
Pitching and Defensive Performance
Cece Cellura led the Tigers from the circle, recording her fifth complete game of the season. Cellura finished the day with a 6-4 record, allowing seven hits and one unearned run while recording three strikeouts. She surrendered only one walk during the contest, contributing to a streak of 35.1 innings in which she has recorded 16 strikeouts and only three walks.
LSU’s defense contributed significantly to the victory by recording 11 groundouts. Sierra Daniel provided key support in the field, recording five assists.
For Arizona, Jalen Adams took the loss, moving to 16-6 in the circle. Adams pitched 6.0 innings, allowing three runs on three hits and three walks, with no strikeouts recorded.
Offensive Highlights
The LSU offense produced three hits during the game. Kylee Edwards hit a triple in the first inning, which was the team’s 17th triple of the year. This achievement tied for the ninth-most triples in a single season in the program’s record book, dating back to 2014.
Additional hits were recorded by Maci Bergeron and Tori Edwards. The Tigers also utilized two hit-by-pitches to help generate scoring opportunities. Alix Franklin and Ally Hutchins each recorded an RBI to help secure the 3-1 decision.
Series Context and Team Outlook
The win against Arizona, who holds a 29-11 record, represents a significant victory for LSU against a non-SEC opponent. The program’s last Top 25 series win against a non-SEC team occurred in 2021 against then No. 7 Texas at Tiger Park.
LSU has now improved to an 11-3 all-time record in the annual Teal Game. Head Coach Beth Torina noted the importance of the victory following a period where the team struggled in close contests.
Beth Torina
We are finding ways to win. I think that has been a big push over the last few weeks. We seemed to be on the wrong side of the one-run games. It’s nice to see our team finding ways to win now.
The weekend festivities included the 13th annual Geaux Teal Ovarian Cancer Awareness Walk, which took place on the morning of April 11 prior to the game. The walk featured a ceremony inside Tiger Park and a mile-and-a-half walk to raise awareness for the cause.
