Lucas Paqueta Injury Update: West Ham Star Cleared
Lucas Paquetá cleared of Betting Charges by FA
West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paquetá has been cleared of all charges by the Football Association (FA) regarding alleged breaches of betting rules. The Brazilian international faced accusations of intentionally underperforming in matches to influence betting markets.
The FA had charged Paquetá with four breaches of FA Rule E5.1, relating to alleged manipulation of betting patterns in four separate Premier League fixtures: West Ham vs. Leicester City (November 2022), West Ham vs. Aston Villa (March 2023), West Ham vs. leeds United (May 2023), and West Ham vs. Bournemouth (May 2023). The allegations suggested that Paquetá deliberately received yellow cards in these matches, with the intention of encouraging a large number of bets to be placed on him to be cautioned.
However, an self-reliant Regulatory Commission found Paquetá not guilty on all counts, a decision that has been met with relief by the player, his club, and his supporters.
