The election saw Buonfiglio triumph over Luca pancalli, former president of the CIP, who received 34 votes. Buonfiglio expressed optimism,stating,”I can’t wait to start. I don’t fear anything,” signaling a focus on the future of Italian sports and the importance of strategic sports planning.
Pancalli acknowledged Buonfiglio’s victory and pledged collaboration. Andrea Abadi, the minister for sport and young people, also assured Buonfiglio of “immediate and full collaboration” to enhance efficiency.
