Harm’s Way and HardLore Instagram statement
Lueders was described as a linchpin of the Chicago straight-edge community. He grew up in the Chicago metropolitan area and attended school in Roselle, where he met Christopher Mills, the drummer for Harm’s Way.
Lueders began playing guitar at age 10 and developed an interest in hardcore music through bands such as NOFX and Blink-182. He and Mills initially formed a band called Double Crossed, which established Lueders’ place within the Chicago hardcore and straight-edge scenes.
His musical career involved several iterations before the formation of Harm’s Way. Lueders co-founded Few and the Proud, a group that eventually evolved into Convicted and finally into Harm’s Way. Over time, the band’s sound transitioned from power violence toward a style of brawl-ready hardcore punk incorporating elements of metal.
Harm’s Way released music through Organized Crime Records and Closed Casket Activities before signing with Deathwish Inc. The band later released the albums Posthuman
in 2018 and Common Suffering
in 2023 through Metal Blade.
In 2023, Lueders joined the Louisville-based straight-edge hardcore band XweaponX, contributing to three releases with the group. Outside of performing, he co-hosted the HardLore podcast, where he documented music and life on the road.
In a statement following his death, Harm’s Way and HardLore asked for grace and privacy during the difficult time.
The band and podcast provided resources for those struggling with depression as part of their public announcement.
