Luhut Rejects PT Toba Pulp Lestari, Damages Sumatra Forests

Jakarta – Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, publicly addressed allegations linking him to PT Toba Pulp Lestari (TPL), a wood processing company in North Sumatra.The company has faced increased scrutiny recently, accused of exacerbating the impact of recent disasters.

Pandjaitan firmly denied any involvement with TPL and stated he opposes its operations. He explained the company has existed as the early 2000s.

He added that he first scrutinized the company while serving as Minister of Industry and Trade during the presidency of Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur). “To be frank, I already rejected…”
