Luxembourg’s young Trades Shine at Euroskills, Setting the Stage for 2027
Herning, Denmark – The future of Luxembourg’s skilled trades is bright, judging by the impressive performance of its young competitors at the recent Euroskills Championships held in herning, denmark, from September 9th to 13th, 2025. Amidst a field of 600 talented individuals from across Europe, the 19-member Luxembourg team demonstrated remarkable skill and dedication, bringing home a silver medal and four coveted excellence medals.
The silver medal was awarded to Nico Fuchs (23) and Florian Theft (19) in the Gardeier-Paysagiste (Landscaping) category,guided by their expert,Annick Liked. Their achievement highlights the high standards of training and the passion for their craft that these young landscapers possess.
Adding to the Grand Duchy’s success, four competitors earned excellence medals, a distinction awarded to those scoring at least 700 points, signifying near-podium performance. These outstanding individuals are:
* Jannik Bares (20) in plumbing & heating, mentored by expert Loïc Perrin.
* Pit Hansen (21) in Automobile Technology, with guidance from expert Christophe Nerenhausen.
* Sébastien Fohr (19) in Web Technologies, supported by expert Ronny Osweiler.
* Laurence Bley (21) in Hotel Reception, under the tutelage of expert Claudine Thoma.
“These championships show not only that the new generation can compete at the same level as the best Europeans, but that it can even rise to the podium,” stated Claude Meisch, the Minister of National Education, Childhood and Youth. “this demonstrates the quality of vocational training in Luxembourg and the commitment of these young people.”
The Euroskills competition,held biennially in a different European contry,showcases the talents of young professionals in a wide range of fields,from crafts and trades to agriculture,health,aesthetics,and industry. Luxembourg’s participation is a testament to its commitment to fostering skilled trades and providing opportunities for young people to excel. The candidates representing Luxembourg were selected during the National Championship of Trades, Luxskills.
The Luxembourg team in Herning consisted of 19 candidates and 17 dedicated experts who provided months of training and support. The full team included competitors in art Floral (Léon Gallion, 20, expert Pascal), Industrial Control (Thibaut Antoine, 19, expert Gilles Krantz), Carpentry (expert Carlos Das Neves), Aesthetic Care (Inês Lima sampaio, 24, expert Jil Michels), Robotic Integration (Saif alrefaee, 23, Mohammad Rabiaah, 24, expert Claude Loullingen), Cabinet Making (Cary Biewer, 22, expert Mario Zaio Soulette), Hairdressing (Bruna fernands, 20, expert Margese Klassels), Restaurant Service (Bruno Pereira, 22, expert Valérie Bodarwé), Graphic and Pre-press Arts (Élodie nassoy, 24, expert Alessandra Baral), Entrepreneurial Challenge (Paul Kirch, 19, Thaibaut kills, 20, expert ees Ago Vevic), Industrial Maintenance (Nicolas Hanff, 21, expert Gregory Scryst), and Cuisine (Jaimey Jeromito, 19, expert Jérôme Lesquir).
The closing ceremony of Euroskills Herning 2025 marked a important moment for Luxembourg, as the official flag of the competition was passed to Germany and Luxembourg, who will jointly host the 2027 edition in Düsseldorf. This presents a unique opportunity for Luxembourg to showcase its commitment to vocational training on a global stage.
Aspiring competitors can qualify for the 2027 Euroskills through the next edition of Luxskills, which will be held during the Education Fair (Schoulfoire) from April 19th to 22nd, 2026, at Luxexpo. The public is encouraged to attend and support these talented young individuals.
