The‌ Montreal International Children’s Film ‍festival (FIFEM) will kick off its 29th edition with a special preview screening of the ⁤Quebec feature ‍film Lydia and the Stormship on February 19,2026.

“Lydia and the Stormship”: A Quebec Production

Lydia and the Stormship, written and directed ⁤by Emilie Rosas, will have its premiere at FIFEM. the film is ⁣produced by Nancy Florence Savard of 10e Ave, and Philippe Arseneau Bussières serves as artistic director ‍and a member of ⁤the producing trio. 10e Ave Productions has ​a strong track record of supporting Quebec⁢ cinema, and Savard was a ⁢recipient ​of the Rock-Demers Prize in 2022.

The film promises a “rich, sensitive and deeply ⁢cinematic adventure” according to Jo-Anne Blouin, FIFEM’s general and artistic director. she also highlighted the festival’s commitment to celebrating Quebec talent, noting that Chantale Pagé, founder and president of⁣ Maison ​4:3, also received the Rock-Demers Prize in 2023.

Festival Dates and Details

While the opening preview is⁢ scheduled for February 19, 2026, the main festival will run from February ⁣28 to March ‌8, 2026, coinciding with Montreal’s⁣ spring‌ break. FIFEM will once again present a diverse and⁣ international program of films in theaters⁣ throughout ​Montreal.

Past FIFEM festivals have showcased films from over 40 countries, attracting approximately 30,000 attendees annually. The festival features ⁢a variety ⁤of sections, including competitions for different age groups, as well ⁣as special events and workshops.
