Napheesa Collier led the Minnesota Lynx to a decisive 101-78 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks saturday at Target Center. Collier’s ⁢performance, coupled with strong team play,‌ secured the win for the Lynx, now 10-1.

The Lynx honored⁢ Seimone Augustus before‍ the game for her recent inductions into the Women’s Basketball and Naismith ⁣Basketball halls of fame. The⁣ team drew inspiration from Augustus’s presence.

Collier’s stat line included 32 points, eight rebounds, six assists, two steals,‌ and two blocks. She scored 16⁣ points in the first quarter alone and had a career-best 26 points by halftime.

Courtney⁣ Williams, who scored 17 points, has been vocal in her support of Collier for the⁣ league’s MVP award. ‍She emphasized Collier’s consistent performance ⁢and its importance to the team’s success.

After a loss to Seattle, the Lynx focused on defensive‌ intensity. They‍ shot 65.7% in the first half, holding ‌Los Angeles to 23.3% and establishing a 58-26 lead. The team also recorded a season-high 30 assists.

Natisha Hiedeman contributed 14 points and‌ five assists off the bench, while Maria Kliundikova added 11 points, five rebounds, and three blocks.

The game was played under the shadow of tragedy. Earlier Saturday,House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her ⁤husband,Mark, were assassinated, and Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, were shot.‌ A moment of silence was observed before the game.

“Our team is not as good ⁤as we is if she don’t ⁤show up the way she shows up every game, every practice, every day. Everybody got to ⁣see ‌it. ⁣It ain’t rocket science,”⁢ Williams said, referring to collier’s MVP caliber play.

Reeve said, “Today’s a tough day all around. Basketball is what we do, and we’ll go⁣ out there and do what we do, but when our game is over God ‌knows ⁣what we’re going to come off the court and learn what’s happening. It’s ⁣sickening.”

What’s next

the Lynx will look to continue⁤ their winning ways as they move further into the WNBA season, building on their strong team chemistry and Collier’s extraordinary play.
