The band originated in Orlando, Florida, and moved to Hollywood in April 1988. They performed at well-known venues on the Sunset Strip, including the Whisky, Gazzarris, The Roxy, and The Troubadour. They faced competition from bands like Taz, Scratch, and Bang Tango, who achieved significant success.
Lypswitch gained attention through press coverage from local publications and airplay on KNAC, featuring their first single “Rattlesnake Skin” in late 1989 and 1990. They connected with their audience by promoting their shows through flyers and newsletters.
