Macklemore, the Seattle-based rapper, experienced a home invasion early Saturday when his residence was burglarized. According to police reports, two suspects entered the house and assaulted the nanny who was caring for three children.
The incident occurred when two male suspects allegedly entered through an unlocked patio door. The nanny was sprayed in the face with bear mace. One suspect reportedly helped her rinse her eyes before demanding the location of “the jewels.” The suspects then stole jewelry, watches, and shoes.
Before escaping, the suspects reportedly assaulted the nanny and stole her phone. She managed to escape by biting one of the men and fleeing to a neighbour’s house, where she called the police. The children, who were asleep at the time, were safely removed by authorities.
While authorities initially identified the homeowner onyl as a “high-profile” individual,property records confirmed the residence belonged to Macklemore,whose real name is Benjamin Haggerty. It remains unclear if Macklemore was home during the incident.
