Mâcon residents and public health partners are mobilizing for the “Tout Mâcon Donne” public health campaign, a local initiative organized in cooperation with the Établissement français du sang to boost blood and plasma donations. The collaborative effort unites municipal services, local sports teams, health agencies, and community associations to address constant medical needs and encourage new donors to join the solidarity network.
Magali Butny, a professional photographer and former emergency room nurse of 17 years, joined the campaign to create visual materials for the event. Having worked as an emergency room nurse for 17 years before becoming a professional photographer, this campaign has a very special resonance for me.
Butny stated, as reported by the French Blood Establishment. Throughout my career, I’ve seen how a single unit of blood can mean the difference between life and death. The need is constant, and every donation counts.
Public health authorities emphasize that blood and plasma donations remain essential for treating patients across healthcare facilities. The campaign incorporates community outreach through multiple local organizations and institutions to raise awareness about donation schedules and requirements.
Community Partnerships and Public Exhibits
The Caisse primaire d’Assurance Maladie de Saône-et-Loire is participating by mounting an outdoor photo exhibition on its reception grilles starting September 24. The month-long display features emotionally themed images illustrating how giving blood serves as a shared civic responsibility. Elodie Abramo of the CPAM noted the agency’s commitment to public health goals beyond its standard administrative duties. Committed daily to the health of everyone, the CPAM of Saône-et-Loire also wishes to contribute, beyond its missions, to major public health causes.
Abramo stated, according to the Établissement français du sang. Internal teams at the CPAM also take part by scheduling group donations.
Additional organizations supporting the initiative include the Service Départemental d’Incendie et de Secours de Saône-et-Loire (SDIS 71), which continues its emergency service outreach alongside donation drives. The Charnay Basket Bourgogne Sud professional women’s basketball team, known as the Pinkies, integrated donation awareness into their match against Montpellier on September 26.
Collation Providers and Local Engagement
Community partners have also stepped forward to provide post-donation refreshments for participants throughout the campaign period. The Jardins de Cocagne began supplying collation items on October 2, while Marguerite-en-Bourgogne contributes to donor meals across the entire month. Other participating entities include the Restaurant del Arte, the French Red Cross, Les Fées Papillons, the Ville de Mâcon, and the Mâcon Beaujolais Agglomération. The Duch association is scheduled to participate in a dedicated donation event on October 24.
