His decision comes just a day after the announcement that Buenos Aires will hold separate elections for half of its legislature on July 6, 2025.
Speaking on a local radio program, Macri expressed his preference for running independently and later collaborating at the legislative level. “I don’t like being invited to participate with an absolute condition. It’s like ‘it’s my way or the highway.’ Life isn’t like that,” Macri stated, seemingly alluding to LLA leader Javier milei’s recent declaration that “with the PRO, we go together everywhere, or we go separately.”
Macri believes that different political entities can express their views independently and later forge parliamentary agreements. “I don’t think the only path is a unity as some propose,” Macri said, suggesting that coalitions coudl be formed differently in various regions.

He dismissed concerns about voter turnout and potential fraud, stating that separate elections foster civic engagement and are a positive step for Buenos Aires, especially as the city celebrates 30 years of autonomy.
