The renewed investigation into the Madeleine McCann disappearance comes at the request of German authorities, who identified Christian Brueckner as a suspect in 2022.
McCann, a 3-year-old from Rothley, Leicestershire, was reported missing on May 3, 2007, while vacationing with her family.Her parents, kate and Gerry McCann, were dining with friends at a tapas bar, leaving madeleine and her twin siblings asleep in their apartment. Kate McCann discovered Madeleine missing around 10 p.m., prompting an extensive search by police and volunteers.
Brueckner, currently imprisoned in Germany for an unrelated rape conviction, has denied any involvement in the McCann case. He was acquitted of other sexual abuse charges in Germany last year due to insufficient evidence.
