Madonna announced on April 15, 2026, the release of her 15th studio album, Confessions II
, scheduled for release on July 3, 2026. The project, also referred to as Confessions on a Dance Floor: Part II
, will be released through Warner Records and is conceived as a sequel to her 2005 album, Confessions on a Dance Floor
.
The upcoming album reunites Madonna with British producer Stuart Price, who co-wrote and produced the original 2005 release. This marks the singer’s first full-length studio project since 2019’s Madame X
. The release also signifies her first studio album since returning to Warner Records in 2025, the label where she spent the first 24 years of her career before moving to Interscope for nearly two decades.
A Ritualistic Approach to Dance
Madonna and Price developed a specific manifesto for the project, focusing on the spiritual and physical dimensions of club culture. The album is billed as a study of the dancefloor as a space where movement replaces language.
When Stuart Price and I first started working on this record, this was our manifesto: We must dance, celebrate, and pray with our bodies. These are things that we’ve been doing for thousands of years — they really are spiritual practices. After all, the dance floor is a ritualistic space. It’s a place where you connect with your wounds, with your fragility. To rave is an art. It’s about pushing your limits and connecting to a community of like-minded people. Sound, light, and vibration Reshape our perceptions Pulling us into a trance-like state. The repetition of the bass, we don’t just hear it but we feel it. Altering our consciousness and dissolving ego and time.
Madonna
The singer has already shared glimpses of the new material. A teaser released on YouTube features a deep house track accompanied by a soliloquy in which Madonna discusses creating a new persona and identity while hiding in the shadows. She quoted lyrics from a new song titled One Step Away
, asserting that the dancefloor serves as a threshold
and a ritualistic space where movement replaces language
.
Legacy of the Original Confessions
The 2005 predecessor, Confessions on a Dance Floor
, is regarded as one of the most significant works in Madonna’s discography. The disco-influenced album reached number one in 40 countries and earned a Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album in 2006. It was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The original project was characterized by dance-pop and disco sounds, producing several global hits, including:

Development and Timeline
The path to Confessions II
began several years prior. In 2022, Madonna stated in a YouTube video her intention to revisit house music. This interest aligned with the development of her Celebration Tour, which she announced in January 2023. Stuart Price served as the musical director for the tour, further cementing the professional reunion that would lead to the new album.
During 2023, Madonna balanced her tour preparations with other musical contributions, appearing on the single Popular
with The Weeknd and Playboi Carti, as well as Sam Smith’s Vulgar
. In June 2023, the singer was admitted to an intensive care unit for several days to treat a serious bacterial infection, which led to the rescheduling of certain tour dates.

The Celebration Tour officially commenced in London on October 14, 2023, and concluded on May 4, 2024, with a free concert at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro. That event became the largest crowd of Madonna’s career and set records for the largest audience for a stand-alone concert and the largest all-time crowd for a female artist.
Following the tour, Madonna revealed in September 2024 that she was in London working on new music with Stuart Price. She later teased the collaboration in December 2024 via an Instagram video showing her in the studio with Price.
Madonna, who turns 68 in August 2026, has made Confessions II
available for pre-order ahead of its July 3 release.
