Madonna made a surprise return to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on Friday, April 18, 2026, joining pop star Sabrina Carpenter for a special guest appearance during Carpenter’s headlining set.
The 66-year-old icon took the stage in Indio, California, performing a rendition of her 1990 hit “Vogue” before unveiling two new songs from her upcoming album, Confessions II, set for release on July 6, 2026, through Warner Records.
Among the new tracks premiered was “Bring Your Love,” which Madonna said would appear on the long-awaited sequel to her 2005 album Confessions on a Dance Floor. She later performed another unreleased song, “I Feel Free,” further signaling the direction of her first full-length studio project in nearly two decades.
Reflecting on her history with the festival, Madonna noted that her appearance marked exactly 20 years since her 2005 performance in the Sahara Tent, where she played to a much smaller audience during her Confessions on a Dance Floor era.
“That was such a thrill for me, so you can imagine what a thrill it is for me to be back 20 years later in the same boots, the same corset, the jacket I had on earlier, the same Gucci jacket,” she said, calling the moment a “full-circle” experience.
She joined Carpenter for a duet of “Like a Prayer,” using the moment to speak about music’s unifying power.
“The great thing about music is that it brings people together, am I right?” Madonna said. “It’s the one place that people have to put their differences aside, put their shit down, and just everybody have a good time together. So, I am thrilled to be a part of that healing experience [of] bringing people together.”
Carpenter responded warmly to the invitation, telling Madonna, “no thanks needed, Madonna. You can have whatever you want.”
The performance was met with enthusiasm from the festival crowd and quickly circulated online, with clips of the duet and Madonna’s remarks gaining traction across social media platforms. Her return to Coachella underscores her enduring influence in live performance and her continued relevance in contemporary pop culture.
Confessions II marks Madonna’s first album release with Warner Records since her departure from the label in the early 2000s. The project follows a series of recent singles and teases that have positioned it as a reflective yet dance-forward evolution of her seminal 2005 work.
As of now, no further details about the album’s tracklist or additional guest features have been officially disclosed. Madonna’s team has not announced plans for a supporting tour, though festival appearances and select promotional events are anticipated in the lead-up to the album’s summer release.
