Madonna made a surprise appearance during Sabrina Carpenter’s headlining set at the 2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on Friday night, joining the pop star on stage for a duet of “Vogue” and a performance of “Like A Prayer.”
The surprise collaboration occurred during Carpenter’s Friday night headline set, marking Madonna’s return to the festival exactly 20 years after her first appearance at Coachella in 2006. Speaking to the crowd, Madonna reflected on the significance of the moment, noting it was the first time she performed her 2005 album “Confessions On A Dance Floor” in America during her initial Coachella appearance.
“Twenty years ago today, I performed at Coachella – I was in the dance tent and it was the first time I performed Confessions On A Dance Floor: Part I in America and that was such a thrill for me,” Madonna said from the stage. “So you can imagine what a thrill it is for me to be back 20 years later… So it’s a like a full circle moment you know – very meaningful for me.”
I also want to point out it’s the new moon of Taurus. Seven planets lined up in Aries… avoid confrontations. In all circumstances — for the rest of the month — let’s try to get along, let’s try to be together, let’s try to avoid disagreements.

Madonna also noted the astrological significance of the evening, referencing the new moon in Taurus and urging the audience to embrace unity. She added that it was the first time she had performed with someone shorter than herself, joking, “Thank you for giving me that experience.”
The performance included a rendition of “Vogue” followed by what appeared to be an unreleased track from Madonna’s upcoming album, “Confessions II,” which she confirmed would be released on July 3 via Warner Records. The album serves as a sequel to her 2005 dance landmark “Confessions on a Dance Floor.”
Sabrina, thank you so much for inviting me on your show. What a gas.

Carpenter responded warmly to the surprise guest, saying, “No thanks needed, Madonna.” The collaboration came during Carpenter’s second weekend as a headliner at the festival, with Justin Bieber set to headline on Saturday and Colombian pop star Karol G scheduled for Sunday.
For fans of the iconic pop star, the surprise appearance was described as “like (an answered) prayer,” with Madonna’s return to the Coachella stage drawing widespread attention and excitement among attendees.
