Madrid Brothel Shut Down for Raffling Women and Sex-Based Payments

Spanish authorities have sealed a Madrid brothel known as El Edén de Anita following an investigation into the exploitation of women and the operation of a raffle system where individuals were treated as prizes.

The establishment, which operated for more than 11 years, was shut down by police after reports surfaced regarding the dehumanizing treatment of the women working there. According to reporting from EL PAÍS and ABC, the venue utilized a lottery-style system to attract clients, contrasting its name—which translates to Anita’s Eden—with conditions described by sources as a hell for women.

Raffle Systems and Exploitation

The investigation revealed that the brothel organized raffles once a month, where the prize was a woman. These events were part of a broader marketing strategy that included the designation of a girl of the day, according to El Independiente.

In addition to the monthly lotteries, some women were offered to clients at half price. These practices were part of the operational model that allowed the business to function for over a decade in the Spanish capital.

Payment Through Sexual Services

Beyond the raffle system, police discovered that the brothel engaged in unusual payment arrangements for maintenance and repair work. ABC reported that the establishment paid for chapuzas—informal odd jobs or home repairs—using sexual services instead of currency.

The venue also maintained a distinct brand identity, which included having its own song, a detail highlighted in reports regarding the establishment’s attempts to present itself as a unique destination.

Police Action and Detentions

During the operation to close the facility, police detained five women. Antena 3 reported that the raid uncovered the presence of drugs on the premises alongside the evidence of the raffle and payment schemes.

The facility has been officially sealed by law enforcement to prevent further activity while the legal proceedings against those involved continue. The case has drawn attention to the mechanisms of exploitation used within the city’s unregulated prostitution sectors.
