Maduro Mobilizes Militia Amidst US⁢ tensions

Venezuelan President Nicolás ‍Maduro, who is not recognized as the legitimate leader by the United States or major⁤ European democracies, has convened volunteers from the ‍country’s militia for training exercises. This move comes as Maduro accuses Washington ‍of planning an invasion of Venezuela. The militia is an armed civilian body.

Two weeks ago, Maduro initiated the training of these⁣ volunteers in barracks ⁢across the country. On September 20th, Maduro announced that⁢ the barracks, along with the Bolivarian Armed Forces, would extend this training directly to communities and neighborhoods, teaching residents firearm management. This marks the first time Venezuelan military personnel ⁢and equipment will be deployed directly into civilian areas for such training, according to Maduro’s statements broadcast on state television VTV.

We don’t‍ get into anyone, but we also prepare for⁤ us to need, Maduro stated, framing the exercises as defensive preparations.
