Europe Hit by Sudden Change in Weather: Snow and Heavy Rain Expected

A significant change in the weather pattern has brought cooling and precipitation to Europe, with snow already falling in Austria, Switzerland, Germany, and Slovenia. The Alps are experiencing the brunt of the storm, and it’s expected to reach Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) soon.

Residents of Germany and Austria are experiencing winter-like conditions in September, with temperatures plummeting to as low as -5 degrees. This sudden change in weather is a stark contrast to the recent record-high temperatures.

According to Bakir Krajinović, a meteorologist from the Federal Hydrometeorological Institute of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FHMZ), cold and unsettled weather is expected to hit BiH. “We can expect rain, showers, heavy rain, and even the first snowflakes on the mountains,” he said.

A cyclone over the Adriatic Sea is contributing to the changing weather conditions in the region. The recent appearance of leeches on the Adriatic coast in Croatia and Montenegro is another indication of the atmosphere’s instability.

Krajinović added that the next two weeks will see changeable weather, with plenty of rain and dark skies. A significant drop in temperature is also expected, with morning temperatures ranging from 5 to 10 degrees and maximum daily temperatures not exceeding 17 degrees.

The Cantonal Civil Defense Administration in KS has over 250 employees on standby, ready to respond in case of heavy rain.
