A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck a rural area of Nevada east of Carson City on Monday, April 13, 2026, resulting in reports of light to moderate damage in several nearby communities.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake occurred just before 6:30 p.m. The epicenter was located 12.9 miles east of the town of Silver Springs at a depth of 3.1 miles.

The U.S. Geological Survey stated that residents in communities near the epicenter reported shaking that ranged from strong to very strong. This seismic activity led to light to moderate damage in the region.
In the town of Fallon, video footage captured the aftermath of the quake inside a grocery store, showing food and shattered glass scattered across the aisle floors.
Trina Enloe, a resident of Fallon, described the experience of the earthquake while sitting in her dining room with one of her daughters. Enloe noted that the shaking lasted for approximately one minute and was preceded by an audible rumbling.

Enloe reported that the jolt knocked over cast iron candle holders in her home, though she did not observe any cracks or structural damage to her residence.

Following the primary magnitude 5.7 event on April 13, additional seismic activity was recorded in the region. Data from Volcano Discovery indicates two subsequent light earthquakes:
- A magnitude 3.4 earthquake occurred at 9:05 p.m. (GMT -7) on April 13, located 37 kilometers southeast of Fernley in Lyon County, Nevada.
- A magnitude 3.9 earthquake occurred at 9:45 p.m. (GMT -7) on April 13, located 19 kilometers southeast of Silver Springs, Nevada.
