The monsoon’s active phase has triggered alerts across Maharashtra, with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) warning of heavy rainfall. Raigad district faces a red alert, while Ratnagiri, sindhudurg, and the ghat sections of Pune, Satara, and Kolhapur are under orange alerts. mumbai, Palghar, Thane, the Nashik ghat section, Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, and Gadchiroli have been issued yellow alerts.

Increased rainfall intensity is highly likely to cause traffic disruptions and impact daily life. the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has cautioned Mumbai Metropolitan Region residents about heavy rains for the next three hours, advising them to call 1916 for emergencies. Heavy rainfall has already submerged low-lying areas in Vasai-Virar, causing traffic snarls. Mumbai’s Central,Western,and Harbour Railways are running 5 to 10 minutes behind schedule. The state government has directed Divisional Commissioners and district Collectors to maintain vigilance and prepare for relief and rescue operations. Mumbai and Pune have experienced continuous rain since last night, with Varandha Ghat shirgaon in Pune recording 113 mm of rain.
