Bowdoin College Women’s Basketball Defeats Maine Maritime in High-Scoring Contest

BRUNSWICK, Maine — The Bowdoin College women’s basketball team defeated Maine Maritime Academy 76-51 on Tuesday evening, February 3, 2026, at Smith Gymnasium. The Polar Bears, ranked No. 7 by the Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Association and D3hoops.com, established a dominant lead early in the game.

Bowdoin raced out to a 28-12 first-quarter advantage and maintained control throughout the contest, leading by double figures at halftime. According to reports, the team tied a school record with 15 three-pointers during the game.

Maine Maritime (14-8) was led by sophomore Addison Forry, who scored 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Senior Grace Huntwork contributed 11 points, shooting 4-of-6 from the floor. Senior Evelyn Dagan added seven points, including two three-pointers, and junior Hailey Blanchard chipped in with six points for the Mariners.

Bowdoin (18-1) controlled the tempo and showcased a balanced attack, proving too much for Maine Maritime to overcome. Despite defensive efforts and offensive progress from the Mariners, they were unable to close the gap.

This matchup followed a January 28, 2025 game where Bowdoin defeated Maine Maritime 77-55. In that earlier contest, Maine Maritime experienced a slow start against the nationally-ranked Polar Bears at Morrell Gymnasium.

Earlier in the season, on January 26, 2025, Colby College topped Maine Maritime Academy, with junior player Olenik scoring 32 points. Olenik then followed that performance with 24 points in a narrow loss against Bowdoin. During those two games, Olenik shot over 50 percent from the floor and from behind the arc, and successfully made eight of her nine free throws.

Maine Maritime will return to action on the road on Friday against Vermont State University Lyndon at 7:30 p.m.
