:## The Majesticks Face a Uphill Battle at the LIV Golf Team Championship
Detroit, Michigan – August 19, 2025 – The LIV Golf season culminates this week at The Cardinal at Saint John’s in Detroit, Michigan, with the team Championship. For the majesticks GC, however, the season has been a struggle, and they arrive with a mountain to climb.
The team, comprised of Ian Poulter, Henrik stenson, Lee Westwood, and Sam Horsfield, secured 9.16 points throughout the season. while they showed flashes of potential with a T5 finish in Adelaide, they were frequently found at the bottom of the team leaderboard. A last-minute solo sixth-place finish in Indianapolis offered a glimmer of hope heading into the championship.
The individual performances within the team have been a mixed bag. Ian Poulter, a veteran of seven Ryder Cups, finished 48th in the LIV Golf standings, showcasing his experience under pressure. However, Henrik Stenson fell to 49th, highlighting the team’s overall inconsistency. Lee Westwood, despite finishing 46th, demonstrated moments of brilliance, including a T10 finish in Virginia and a strong showing at the Open Championship (T34).Sam Horsfield finished 39th, with his best result coming in Adelaide (T7).
Looking back,the Majesticks have tasted success in this format before,defeating Iron Heads GC in 2022. However, only Kevin Na remains from that Iron Heads team. In that victory, Westwood defeated Na in singles play, while stenson also secured a win, and the duo of Poulter and Horsfield triumphed in the foursomes match.
This year’s championship will mark the first time Poulter and Stenson are paired together in a foursomes match, a potentially crucial pairing for the team’s success.
Despite the challenging season, the Majesticks can draw on their ancient strength in match play.Poulter, in particular, has a proven track record in this format. However, overcoming their inconsistencies and capitalizing on their experience will be key if they hope to make a deep run in the Team Championship.
