Oslo, Norway – A massive fire ripped through a historic building in Oslo early Wednesday morning, forcing the evacuation of over 160 residents and leaving the structure likely a total loss.

The blaze erupted shortly after 2 a.m. local time at a 19th-century building on Kingos Gate, sending flames shooting into the night sky. Firefighters battled the inferno for hours, gaining control of the fire on the first floor but struggling to contain the flames on the third floor.

“The entire building is being evacuated,” police stated in an update. “there are currently no reports of injuries.”

The building, which houses both residential and commercial spaces, saw residents and business owners alike fleeing into the night. Authorities arranged buses to provide temporary shelter for the displaced individuals.

As firefighters worked tirelessly to extinguish the blaze, nearby buildings were also evacuated as a precaution. By mid-morning, Waldemar Thranes Gate, a street adjacent to the burning building, was partially reopened to traffic.

“kingos Gate 4 is fully engulfed in flames,” police reported. “Firefighters believe the building will be a total loss.”

the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The fire has left a deep impact on the community, with many residents expressing shock and concern.

“Did you hear about the fire in Oslo? It sounds absolutely devastating,” said Elijah Thompson, a resident of the city. “Over 150 people displaced.”

Sophia ramirez, another Oslo resident, expressed her disbelief. “No, really? That’s awful! When did this happen? What caused it?”

Thompson explained that the fire broke out around 2 a.m. at a historic building on kingos Gate. “Apparently, they think it started on the third floor,” he said.

Ramirez expressed relief that no injuries had been reported. “Oh my gosh, that’s terrifying. Did anyone get hurt?”

“Thankfully, the latest reports say no injuries,” Thompson replied.”Everyone managed to get out safely. But people lost their homes, their businesses… it’s heartbreaking.”

Ramirez reflected on the devastating impact of the fire. “That’s such a relief that no one was hurt, but still. How can you lose your home and all your belongings overnight?”

Thompson agreed, emphasizing the senselessness of the tragedy. “Exactly. I saw pictures online, it’s a complete inferno. A total loss, they think. So senseless, and it’s so cold in Oslo right now, imagine being displaced in the middle of winter.”

Ramirez expressed concern for the city’s ability to cope with the sudden influx of displaced residents. “The city must be struggling to help so many people so suddenly.”

Thompson reassured her, stating that the city was mobilizing to provide assistance. “They are mobilizing. They have buses set up to provide temporary shelter. I also read that charities are already stepping up to assist the displaced.”

Ramirez expressed hope for the future. “It’s good to hear people are coming together. I hope they can get back on their feet quickly.”
