Makerere University, Uganda’s leading higher education institution, is taking significant steps toward space exploration and technology development. During the 4th International Aerospace Symposium, hosted by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Association (ICESCO) in Almaty, Kazakhstan, on September 8, 2025, the university announced potential partnerships with several international space agencies. ICESCO organized the event as part of the larger Space Days Kazakhstan 2025 International Forum.
The symposium brought together experts from across Eurasia and africa to discuss advancements in satellite technology, aerospace education, and regional collaboration. The focus was on leveraging space technologies for societal benefit and fostering international cooperation in the space sector.
Makerere University’s Vision for a Space Technology Center
Professor Barnabas Nawangwe, Vice Chancellor of Makerere University, publicly shared the progress via social media during the symposium.
