Malaysia Issues Travel Advisory Amid Middle East Tensions

PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia – Citing escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry issued a travel advisory Saturday for Iran, Iraq, and Jordan. The ministry, also known as Wisma Putra, is urging Malaysian citizens to postpone non-essential travel to the region and prioritize their personal safety.
The Foreign Ministry said it is closely monitoring Middle East developments through its embassies in Tehran, Baghdad, and Amman. Heightened tensions have led Iran, Iraq, and Jordan to close their airspace, the ministry noted.
“Malaysians in the region are advised to anticipate potential disruptions to flight schedules and make the necessary adjustments to their travel plans,” the statement read. “Non-essential travel to these areas should be deferred,given the unpredictable nature of the conflict.” The travel advisory highlights the importance of travel safety and awareness of potential disruptions.
The ministry specifically advised Malaysians in Iran, especially those near affected areas, to remain vigilant, stay informed, and follow instructions from local authorities.
