Ternate, Indonesia – Malut United, the Liga 1 newcomers, are making waves in the transfer market with the signing of three international stars. The club, aiming to secure its place in Indonesia’s top flight, has brought in Brazilian striker Junior Brandao, Argentine attacking midfielder Jonathan Bustos, and former Haitian international Sony Norde.

Head Coach Imran Nahumarury confirmed the signings on Sunday, revealing that the new recruits have already begun training with the team, nicknamed “Laskar kieraha,” at the Gelora Kie Raha (GKR) Stadium.

Brandao, who has been training with the team since November, brings a proven goal-scoring pedigree to malut United. He netted 16 goals and provided four assists last season while playing for Madura United and Bhayangkara FC.Bustos, who previously played for PSS sleman, joins from Iraqi club Al Quwa Al Jawiya, where he recorded an impressive six goals and seven assists in 29 appearances.

Norde, a 35-year-old winger valued at Rp2.61 billion, arrives from Kedah Darul Aman in the Malaysian League. He contributed two goals and three assists in 12 appearances for the Malaysian side.

To accommodate the new arrivals, Malut United COO Willem D. Nanlohy confirmed that the club had to part ways with two foreign players, adhering to Liga 1’s maximum quota of eight foreign players per team.

Cassio Scheid reportedly submitted his resignation due to family reasons and plans to return to his home country. Victor Mansaray, the American striker who managed only one goal and one assist in 10 appearances, is also expected to depart.

Mansaray’s absence from recent training sessions suggests his time with Malut United is coming to an end. The arrival of Brandao, a prolific scorer, likely played a role in Mansaray’s departure.

With the addition of these experienced international players, Malut United is signaling its ambition to compete at the highest level of Indonesian football. The upcoming Liga 1 season promises to be an exciting one for the club and its fans.

Malut United Makes a Splash in the Transfer Market: An Exclusive Interview

ternate, Indonesia – Fresh off the jaw-dropping news of Malut United’s triple international signing, we sat down with Dimas, a passionate Malut United supporter and writer for the club’s dedicated fan blog, to get his take on these exciting developments.

Dimas, this is a huge moment for Malut United. How are fans reacting to the news of Brandao, Bustos, and norde joining the team?

The atmosphere is electric, Sarah! Fans are absolutely ecstatic. We’ve been dreaming of seeing this level of talent arrive in Ternate, and now it’s a reality. Social media is buzzing, the fan forum is overloaded, and everyone is already talking about how these signings will transform our team.

What do you think these players bring to the table for Malut United?

Each player brings something unique: Brandao is a proven goalscorer, Bustos adds creativity and vision in midfield, and Norde brings experience and that touch of magic on the wing. We struggled with consistency last season, and these signings address those issues head-on.

With a maximum of eight foreign players allowed in Liga 1, it means some difficult decisions had to be made. What are your thoughts on the departures of Cassio Scheid and victor Mansaray?

it’s always bittersweet to see players leave, especially those who have contributed to the club. Scheid’s departure due to family reasons is understandable, and we wish him the best. Mansaray’s exit, while unfortunate, makes sense given the arrival of a prolific scorer like Brandao. It’s a tough but necessary business decision

Do you think Malut United has what it takes to challenge for a top-six finish in Liga 1 this season?

I believe so! With this new firepower, coupled with the existing talented squad, and the passionate support base we have here in Ternate, I’m really optimistic about our chances. This season could be truly special for Malut United.

We’d like to thank Dimas for sharing his insights and excitement with us. It’s clear that Malut United has made a statement of intent this transfer window, and the upcoming Liga 1 season promises to be a thrilling one for “laskar kieraha” and their passionate fans.
