Lithuanian Man Sentenced for Brutal Attacks on Ex-Girlfriend and Acquaintance

A Lithuanian man, Dainius Rinkevičius, has been sentenced following a series of violent attacks, including a prolonged assault on his former partner and a separate robbery. The sentencing follows a case marked by domestic violence, stalking behavior and a history of prior offenses.

The most severe incident involved a sustained attack on Rinkevičius’s ex-girlfriend, lasting from approximately 11 PM to 5 AM. According to the victim’s testimony, Rinkevičius invited her to his home under the pretense of reconciliation. Once there, he subjected her to repeated physical violence, punching her in the head, abdomen, and other parts of her body at least ten times, with intervals of roughly half an hour between attacks.

“We had already broken up, but Dainius suggested we try to make up,” the woman recounted to authorities. “I came to his house to discuss our relationship, to try to resolve our disagreements. The violence began around 11 PM and ended around 5 AM. Dainius beat me in his apartment with breaks, about every half hour.”

During the assault, Rinkevičius reportedly threatened to kill her and brandished a knife. The victim stated that he was enraged by her developing a relationship with another man, demanding information about it while inflicting the abuse. “He was very jealous of that. While beating me, he ordered me to tell about my relationship with that man,” she said.

The victim described feeling trapped, lured into a dangerous situation by a man consumed by jealousy and intent on revenge. She stated she agreed to meet with Rinkevičius believing everything was normal.

The woman pleaded for help during the attack, but no one in the building intervened. Rinkevičius’s brother was present in another room but did not attempt to assist or contact the police. The victim was unable to call for help herself, as Rinkevičius had taken her phone, only releasing her at noon.

The victim told police her body was covered in bruises and wounds.

The court heard testimony that Rinkevičius had previously been convicted for assaulting the same victim, serving a sentence but failing to reform his behavior. She had ended the relationship after the first incident, but accepted his offer of reconciliation, a decision she now regrets.

Fortunately, the victim avoided more serious injury during the prolonged attack, escaping with her life due to what she described as a stroke of luck.

In a separate charge stemming from the same case, Rinkevičius was also found guilty of robbing an acquaintance, S. B., punching him four times and stealing 100 euros. Rinkevičius claimed S. B. Had promised him a share of winnings from a betting shop, a promise he alleged S. B. Broke, prompting him to take the money by force.

S. B. Vehemently denied ever making such a promise.

Both incidents occurred between May 18th and May 20th, 2025, and were combined into a single case. Rinkevičius committed these offenses shortly after being released from a previous prison sentence.

Prior to this sentencing, Rinkevičius had a criminal record including convictions for violence, theft, fraud, and public order offenses. Following the court’s decision, authorities stated that Rinkevičius, known for aggressive behavior within his social circles, will soon be transferred to a correctional facility to begin serving his sentence.
