Man Charged with Murder of Brother in Belfast Stabbing

Martin Lowry, 32, appeared before Lisburn Magistrates’ Court today, August 23, 2025, charged with the murder of his brother, Shane Lowry.

Shane Lowry, who was in his 30s, died on thursday evening, August 21, 2025, following a stabbing incident in the Mulberry Park area of Dunmurry, west Belfast. Police reported that Lowry was stabbed during the incident.
Court Proceedings
In addition to the murder charge, Martin Lowry also faces a charge of possessing a knife. A Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) constable informed the court she could connect the accused to both charges. Lowry, who currently has no fixed abode, only confirmed his name and date of birth during the hearing.
Judge Eamonn King confirmed that the victim and the accused are brothers. No submission for bail was made on Lowry’s behalf.
