Man Charged With Murder After couple Dies in Merseyside House Fire

A man has been charged with murder following a fatal house fire in Merseyside that claimed the lives of a couple who had lived at the property for 15 years.
Man Charged with Murder
A 31-year-old man from St Helens has been charged with murder and arson with intent to endanger life. He has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.Merseyside Police confirmed that another man, also 31 and from St helens, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, remains on conditional bail.
Accelerant Used in Fatal Fire
The force revealed that an accelerant was used to start the blaze on South John Street. The victims, Mr. Greener and Ms. Jackson, had resided at the property for 15 years.
Emergency services were alerted to the fire at 12:40 am. Both mr. Greener and Ms. Jackson were rescued from their home and transported to the hospital.
Couple’s Devastating Loss
Tragically, Mr. Greener passed away on the evening of July 16th, with ms. Jackson succumbing to her injuries the following morning.In a heartfelt tribute released on Thursday, the couple’s family described them as ”the life and soul of the party.” Thay added that the pair would be “forever be devastatingly missed but eternally loved.”
