Manchester City has been penalized with fines exceeding £1 million by the Premier League due to multiple delayed kick-offs and restarts during nine matches last season. The delays, occurring between October 2024 and february 2025, violated league regulations concerning scheduled start times.
The Premier League announced Thursday that it reached a sanction agreement with the club regarding these breaches of Rule L.33. The most notable delay, clocking in at 2 minutes and 24 seconds, occurred before the second half of the Manchester derby at Old Trafford in December.

The league stated that these rules “help ensure the organization of the competition is set at the highest possible professional standard and provides certainty to fans and participating clubs,” and that they ensure broadcasts remain on schedule.
city accepted the fines, totaling £1.08 million, and apologized for the violations.They have 14 days to remit payment following the sanction agreement.
