Man Detained for Climbing Train Car at Guelatao Metro Station in Mexico City
The Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) in Mexico City detained a man who climbed the perimeter wall and the roof of a train car at Guelatao station on the Metro Line A. Police assigned to the station noticed the man on the wall and alerted the station chief to cut power and stop train operations.
Officers went to the street and worked with local police to manage traffic while trying to build rapport with the man. However, he moved onto the roof of the train car.
After several minutes, officers managed to contain the 45-year-old man, who appeared to be in a vulnerable state. During a search, they found a knife and about 200 grams of marijuana in his possession. He was then handed over to the relevant public prosecutor’s office, which will determine his legal situation. Train services resumed afterward.
Additionally, the Metro announced that services on Line B were temporarily halted because a person threw themselves onto the train tracks. The Metro’s staff is conducting rescue operations for this individual. Service is expected to resume shortly.
