Man Dies After Being Pinned by Vehicle in Multiple Incidents

Several incidents across the United States have resulted in the deaths of men after being pinned or run over by vehicles in recent months, police reports indicate. These incidents range from accidental deaths while working on vehicles to violent attacks.

In Miami, Florida, a 46-year-old man died on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, after being pinned underneath his own van, according to the Miami Police Department. Police responded to a “pedestrian hit” call at the intersection of SW 7th Avenue and SW 8th Street in Little Havana around 9 a.m. Investigators determined the man was reportedly experiencing issues with the gear shift and went underneath the van to manually shift it into drive or reverse. Police believe he forgot to engage the emergency brake. Once underneath, the van shifted into drive and ran him over, pinning him.

A similar incident occurred in Napa, California, on Saturday, January 4, 2026. A driver died after being pinned against a rock by his own car. The California Highway Patrol reported the driver had stopped the vehicle but failed to put it in park, leaving it in reverse. As the driver exited, the car began to reverse, pinning him between a rock wall and the vehicle.

In Pikesville, Baltimore County, Maryland, a man was struck and killed by his own vehicle on November 29, 2025. Police stated the incident appeared to be an accidental death. A similar incident occurred the following day, November 30, 2025, in Pennsylvania, where a man was run over by his own vehicle outside a home in Fayette County. Pennsylvania State police are investigating.

However, not all incidents were accidental. In Beverly Hills, California, a man died on Friday, January 16, 2026, after being beaten and run over by a car during a violent attack. Police identified the suspect as 54-year-old Christopher Cornelius of San Bernardino. According to the Beverly Hills Police Department, the victim and Cornelius engaged in a verbal altercation, during which Cornelius struck the victim multiple times with a metal object before running him over with his vehicle. Cornelius was detained by officers after fleeing the scene. Witnesses reported seeing the car driving the wrong way on Wilshire Boulevard before the incident.

Another intentional attack occurred in Indianapolis, Indiana, where a woman was arrested on allegations of killing a man by running him over with a vehicle early Friday. Indianapolis police are investigating.

A separate incident, reported on December 24, 2025, involved a 69-year-old man who died after being pinned between his vehicle and a building. Details surrounding this incident are limited.

Police in Oslo, Norway are investigating a similar incident that occurred today, February 3, 2026, involving a man in his 80s. The man was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle and later died. Police are prioritizing determining what happened, including interviewing witnesses and reviewing camera footage. According to operations leader Gabriel Langfeld, police are also considering other hypotheses.
