Kristopher Nathaniel Logan, a 26-year-old man from San Marcos, California, drowned in the Colorado River in Arizona on Monday, April 13, 2026, while attempting to retrieve a hat that had blown away.
The incident occurred near Davis Camp in northwestern Arizona. Logan had rented a pontoon boat to go fishing with friends when the accident took place around 11:15 a.m., according to the Bullhead City Police Department.
Officials stated that Logan jumped into the river after his hat fell off. A bystander on the shoreline contacted police shortly after the event. According to reports, several people on the boat attempted to start the engine to rescue Logan, who was struggling to swim back to the boat

Logan failed to resurface and a dive team from the Bullhead City Fire Department was deployed to the scene. The team eventually recovered his body, and he was pronounced dead at 12:25 p.m. Police reported that Logan had been underwater for approximately one hour.
The Bullhead City Police Department determined that the drowning was an accident and not criminal or suspicious in nature. Investigators noted that Logan was not wearing a life jacket at the time he entered the water.
