DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — A 29-year-old Durham man is facing 18 charges in four North Carolina counties following his arrest after a high-speed chase reaching speeds over 100 mph on April 14.
Víctor Alfonso Elvira Tapia was apprehended by highway patrol officers on Interstate 885, according to authorities. The chase ensued after Elvira Tapia allegedly fled in a stolen Ford F-150 truck, striking a patrol vehicle during the pursuit.
According to reports, Elvira Tapia also had an open container of beer in the driver’s seat at the time of the incident.
Multiple Robbery Charges
Elvira Tapia has an extensive criminal history and was wanted in Durham, Orange, Granville, and Wake counties.
