A hiker was found deceased approximately 200 meters from the summit of Lion Rock, a prominent peak in Hong Kong, on Saturday morning. Police responded to a report from a fellow hiker at 10:00 AM local time, discovering the man already collapsed in a mountainous area near the peak.
Emergency responders from the Government Flying Service and the Fire Services Department were dispatched to the scene, but were unable to revive the man. His body was afterward airlifted by helicopter to the Government flying Service headquarters in Chek Lap Kok for further processing.
Recent Incident in Sai Kung East Country Park
This incident follows a similar tragedy earlier in October.On October 6, an elderly hiker in his seventies died after collapsing while hiking with his son along the Sheung Yiu trail within Sai Kung East Country Park.
