A man died and another was injured after they were gored by buffaloes intended for sacrificial rites during Hari Raya Aidiladha in Ulu Tiram, a suburb of Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
Seri Alam police chief Mohd Sohaimi Ishak stated that the first incident occurred at approximately 10 a.m. On May 27, 2026, in Kampung Tenang. The victim, a 45-year-old man, was attacked by a buffalo meant for sacrificial rituals.
According to Mohd Sohaimi, the man was transported to Hospital Sultanah Aminah for treatment, but he was confirmed dead at approximately 11 p.m. That same day.
Post-mortem results indicated that the cause of death was vascular injuries to the victim’s left leg. Police have classified the case as sudden death and found no evidence of criminal elements.
In a second incident on May 27, 2026, another 45-year-old local man suffered a fractured rib after being gored by a buffalo at approximately 2 p.m. In Batu 19, Kampung Sungai Tiram.
Mohd Sohaimi reported that the buffalo suddenly turned aggressive and attacked the victim
and noted that the man is currently receiving treatment at Hospital Sultan Ismail. Police have not yet received an official report regarding this second incident.
Information regarding both attacks has been forwarded to the Johor Veterinary Services Department for further action.
Mohd Sohaimi advised the public to avoid speculating or sharing unverified information about the incidents, noting that photos and videos of the attacks had previously circulated on social media.
