Man Suffers Burns in Penn Station Fire, Raising Safety Concerns
New York, NY – A 56-year-old man is recovering in stable condition after suffering burns in a fire at Penn Station friday evening. The incident,which occurred around 8 p.m., sent shockwaves through the bustling transportation hub and raised concerns about safety in one of the nation’s busiest transit centers.”We received a report of a man with burns at Penn Station,” a New York Fire Department spokesperson said. “The burns were serious but not life-threatening when he was transported.”
The man was rushed to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center for treatment. Authorities have not yet released his identity.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
This incident comes just days after a fatal fire on the New York City subway system, prompting anxieties about the safety of public transportation.”It’s unsettling,” said Emily, a New Yorker who frequently uses Penn Station. “It makes you think twice about using public transportation.
