Compton,CA - A woman was fatally shot in Compton Monday night after a man intentionally crashed his car into hers,authorities said. The suspect later died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The incident unfolded around 11:10 p.m. near the 900 block of South Central Avenue. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a shooting and arrived to find a chaotic scene.
According to investigators, a male suspect rammed his vehicle into a car occupied by a man and a woman. Both victims exited their vehicle, with the man fleeing towards a nearby gas station as the suspect opened fire. Miraculously,the man escaped unharmed.
The woman,identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner as Theresa Pina,ran into a local business,but the suspect pursued her and shot her inside. pina was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies discovered the suspect inside the business suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was treated by Compton City Fire Department personnel and transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.the male victim sustained injuries likely from the initial car collision and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
