A driver sustained serious injuries early Sunday morning after losing control of their vehicle on Mühleweg in Walterswil, according to the Canton Police of Bern. The lone-vehicle accident occurred on September 13, 2026, at approximately 2:30 a.m., when the motorist veered off the road and rolled over into a forest.

Accident Details on Mühleweg

According to current findings from the Canton Police of Bern, the vehicle was traveling along Mühleweg from Ursenbach in the direction of Schmidigen-Mühleweg. For reasons still under investigation, the driver lost control of the car following a right-hand turn. The vehicle drifted off the right side of the road, overturned, and skidded across the opposing lane. It then left the opposite side of the roadway before coming to a final stop on its roof in a wooded area.

Emergency Response and Road Closure

Emergency medical personnel transported the injured driver to a hospital by ambulance, as reported by the Canton Police of Bern. Officials have not released the identity or specific condition of the motorist beyond confirming the injuries are serious. The affected section of Mühleweg remained closed to traffic for roughly five hours while crews cleared the wreckage and conducted on-site investigations. Authorities established a local detour to route drivers around the closure. In addition to specialized units from the Canton Police of Bern, the response operation involved an ambulance crew, members of the RUWO fire department, and a towing service. The Canton Police of Bern have launched a formal investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
