“The man was found alone in the park,” said Tor Guldbrandsen, operations leader for the Oslo Police. “He was conscious but had serious injuries.”

Guldbrandsen emphasized the seriousness of the attack, stating, “This is a perpetrator who has shown a significant potential for violence. If anyone observes someone who could be connected to this incident, it is indeed crucial to contact the police and not approach the individual directly.”

As of 5:40 p.m., police were conducting both tactical and technical investigations at the scene. They are interviewing witnesses who were in the area at the time, though none reportedly witnessed the attack itself.

A large-scale search is underway in the surrounding area. “We are continuously evaluating the extent of the search,” Guldbrandsen said.

While police are currently working under the assumption that a single perpetrator was involved, they have not ruled out the possibility of multiple assailants.

“We are working with several different hypotheses,” Guldbrandsen explained. “At this point, the theory that there was one perpetrator is the most likely.”

Police believe the victim and the attacker may have known each other prior to the incident. The attack occurred around 4:51 p.m., prompting numerous calls to the police reporting a violent incident in Klosterenga Park.
