Fernández leaves Chelsea after initially arriving for £106.8 million (€121m), making him the first Premier League player to be sold for more than £100m twice. The player had a close relationship with manager Enzo Maresca, who left Chelsea earlier to take charge at Manchester City.

The £125m (€146m) price tag matches the British record transfer fee that Liverpool paid to sign striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle during last year’s summer Deadline Day.
