Manchester City will face off against Al Ain and Juventus in the group stage of the revamped FIFA Club World Cup, set too take place next summer. The tournament, now featuring 32 teams and held every four years, kicks off on June 15th and runs through July 13th.
The reigning UEFA Champions League winners were drawn into Group G,which also includes Moroccan powerhouse Wydad AC. Al Ain, the UAE club featuring Korean national team midfielder Park Yong-woo, secured their spot by winning the AFC Champions League.
A highly anticipated clash awaits City fans as Juventus, the Italian Serie A giants, are also in Group G. The two teams will renew their rivalry after a recent Champions League encounter.
“We’re excited for the challenge ahead,” said a Manchester City spokesperson. “The expanded Club World Cup format promises thrilling matchups, and we’re looking forward to competing against some of the best clubs in the world.”
A Global Stage for Club Football
The 2025 Club World Cup marks a notable shift in the landscape of international club football.With 12 European teams participating,the tournament boasts a truly global depiction.Wydad AC, boasting the most trophies in Moroccan football history, will be looking to make a strong impression after winning the CAF Champions League in 2022. Al Ain,meanwhile,will be hoping to build on their AFC Champions League triumph,which saw them defeat Yokohama F. Marinos, the former club of Korean star Nam Tae-hee.
