California: Governor Gavin Newsom has appointed civil rights lawyer Manjusha P. Kulkarni to the State asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs Commission. The appointment is viewed as a important move to safeguard the rights of California’s Asian and Pacific Islander community and address the issues they encounter.
Currently, Manjusha Kulkarni serves as the Executive Director of Equity Alliance, a coalition encompassing over 40 organizations and representing approximately 1.6 million Los Angeles County residents. She also co-founded ‘Stop AAPI Hate’ in 2020, which has become the nation’s leading center for reporting hate crimes against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.Kulkarni has received recognition from Time magazine, being named one of the 100 most influential people globally, and was included on the Bloomberg 50 list.
