Man’s Apple Watch Theft Story Trashed By CISF
New Delhi, India – In an unexpected turn of events, a man claiming to be a doctor from Gurugram sparked a social media buzz after alleging his Apple watch was stolen during a security check-in at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. However, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which oversees airport security, has denied the man’s claims.
Tushar Mehta, who identified himself as a doctor on his now-deleted X handle, detailed an account where he believed his watch was taken after the security check and later retrieved from a watch store. He alleged that a CISF official and a salesman confronted him at the boarding gate following the incident.
In response to the viral post, the CISF examined CCTV footage and released a statement contradicting Mehta’s narrative. The security force stated that their review showed Mehta wearing his watch and heading directly to the boarding gate without any interaction with CISF personnel.
"Posting of such unsupported messages can create unnecessary concern among passengers," the CISF cautioned.
Mehta, who later deleted his post and deactivated his account, detailed his version of events in a series of tweets. He claimed he noticed the watch missing after the security check, suspected a man nearby, and followed him to a watch store. After reportedly retrieving his watch and leaving the store, Mehta alleged he was confronted by a CISF official and a salesman from the watch store.
The CISF has not commented on whether they plan to take any further action against Mehta for providing false information.
