Mansfield Tigers Defeat Paris in Class 3A Playoffs
The Mansfield Tigers achieved a decisive victory against the Paris team, winning 42-7 in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs on Friday night at Tiger Stadium.
Mansfield (9-2) started strong, scoring on their first three possessions. The team opened the game with an impressive nine-play drive that included strong runs by fullback Andrew Burton and Daniel Burton. Quarterback Jeremy Strozier capped the drive with a 1-yard touchdown on third down, putting Mansfield ahead 7-0 with 7:46 left in the first quarter.
Coach Whit Overton expressed his enthusiasm about the home playoff game, noting that such opportunities have been rare for the team. Following this win, the Tigers are set to host Newport in the upcoming second round of the playoffs.
