California Panel Recommends Parole for Patricia Krenwinkel, Manson Follower
Patricia Krenwinkel, a Charles Manson follower convicted in the 1969 Los Angeles murders, has once again been recommended for parole. The state Board of Parole Hearings cited her age, 77, and good behavior as reasons for finding her suitable for release, according to KFMP-TV.

Krenwinkel’s case now goes to the full state Board of parole Hearings and then to the California governor, Gavin newsom, for review. The process could take up to 150 days.
Krenwinkel, the longest-serving female inmate in California, was convicted of seven counts of first-degree murder for her involvement in the Manson family’s infamous killing spree. Her victims included actress Sharon Tate, who was pregnant, and Leno and rosemary LaBianca.
During Friday’s four-hour hearing, Krenwinkel, with her lawyer present, did not speak, KFMP reported. Family members of the victims voiced their opposition to her release.
Manson, who died in prison in 2017, directed his followers to commit the murders as part of a twisted plot to incite a race war. Othre members of the “family,” including Leslie Van Houten, were also convicted. Van Houten was released on parole in 2023.
What’s next
If the full board affirms the parole suitability finding, Gov. Newsom will have the final say. he can either approve the release, reject it, or order another review, continuing the long legal battle surrounding the parole of Patricia Krenwinkel and the legacy of the Charles Manson murders.
