Manuel García-Rulfo’s Perfect Sunday: From Beach Burritos to Books in L.A.
Manuel García-Rulfo’s Perfect Sunday in Los Angeles
7:30 a.m.: Breakfast with Friends, Oats Alone
Manuel wakes up around 7:30 or 8 a.m. on Sundays. If he went out the night before, he sleeps in. He enjoys breakfast with friends, often at a burrito spot in Los Feliz. If he stays home, he prefers overnight oats or a smoothie.
9 a.m.: Play Tennis
Manuel plays tennis either in the morning or late afternoon. He feels that tennis helps him focus and relax. He plays at Plummer Park in West Hollywood, where he meets friends. Court availability has become limited due to the rise of pickleball.
11 a.m.: Zuma Beach and Sushi Burritos
When the weather is nice, he heads to Zuma Beach. He enjoys sushi burritos from Howdy’s Sonrisa Cafe nearby. He loves eating while soaking up the sun at the beach.
3 p.m.: Study Scripts
During the filming of “The Lincoln Lawyer,” Manuel spends afternoons preparing for his role. He studies legal lines and monologues, often after playing tennis to unwind.
5 p.m.: Visit Bookstores
Manuel loves books and visits The Last Bookstore in downtown L.A. or Book Soup in West Hollywood. He enjoys reading about history and recently found “The Iron King” captivating.
7 p.m.: Catch a Movie
On Sundays, he often goes to the movies. If he’s busy with filming, he may watch a film at home instead. Manuel recently watched “Deadpool & Wolverine” in Malta and wants to see “Megalopolis.”
10 p.m.: Play Guitar Before Bed
Before going to sleep, Manuel sometimes plays guitar. He typically goes to bed by 10:30 or 11 p.m.
