Mapfre Fined for 85+ Year Travel Insurance Discrimination
Mapfre It is fined with 50 UIT (equivalent to S/ 267,500) by the room specialized in consumer protection (SPC) of the INDECOPI. The sanction is due to the Discrimination of people over 85 years in hiring five of their travel insuranceconsidering that exclusion lacked target and reasonable technical support.
According to Resolution 2256-2025/SPC-Indecopi, the referee determined that the insurer applied a generalized restriction based solely on the age of the contracting parties, which violates the right of consumers not to be discriminated against. The complaint was filed by the Peruvian Coordinator of Defense of Consumer Rights.
